Pre-birthday news...amazing cake alert! Had to share this...
The sheild is my beloved Carlisle United. Specially made by the cook in the school across from me dads in the village.
How special?
Took me ages to bring mesel to cut into it!
He's just left to make the journey home,as he can't stay for tomorrow.
I also had a Carlisle United shirt with my name and '40' on the back! Very cool...
So birthday proper tomorrow...who knows what that'll bring???!!!!!????!?!?!??!!

Today got back to the running...best run ever period!
Ran into Filey on the road for about 4 miles.. Then ran down to the beach front... Sea was out so hen finally acheived my holiday running 'dream' of returning to the camp site by running along 3.5 miles of sand!
Was VERY cool and not sure to be repeated soon-middle of the uk not being known for seaside resorts!!
So...1:03.22 for around 7.5 miles i think.
But what a run...

So we awoke to rain an battering wind - outside, children!
So I thought I'd stay away for the second day from running..
Don't mind getting wet n cold but at home I can dry out n warm better and more efficiently.
So ' holiday miles' have dried up for 2 days. 2 days is the resting limit so best be out n running tomorrow....

So after yet another truly awful night- we'd worked it out, since we've been here we have had ONE unbroken nights sleep.kids!
We eventually set off for York.
Journey was about an hour passing through a village scarecrow competition that was truly amazing!
We decided to try the park and ride scheme.truly brilliant.cheap and reliable- completely hassle free.
We had tickets booked for Jorvic the Viking museum.
I'm sorry to say I thought it was a bit dissapointing...shame really.
After that we hit Subway for some food.thanks to fliers picked up that ws good an cheap too!
Then it was time...
Love the Minster. So imposing just a fabulous building...
Well we went inside and discovered that the admission charges ( seperate debate there methinks?) were too steep following jorvic and subway. Still, just to step inside the majesty and scale of the place was really special.
Well we were planned to visit the National Railway Museum next and what a trek in the rain!
We got there and it was just brill.saw lots of old friends...
And one that really wasnt looking well at all.a great shame but look forward to its Phoenix- like rise once more...
Feeling a bit damp and sorry for ourselves we had the long walk back to the bus stop. We did have a costa's on the way.for once I passed on the tedious black coffee and enjoyed a special hot chocolate!
We stopped off for evening eats at the play barn on the way back and apart from some idiot in a black range rover pulling out on us in the wet- we got back ok!
Tomorrow heralds the arrival of dr.agon and Young Nephew S ... So lets see how that works out!
Posted via LiveJournal.app.
Yesterday we went to world famous (?!) John Bull rock factory.
Was ok.watched rock being made, made our own with our initial in it..was good.
We then came back to the van for the crab sandwiches which were good!
In the afternoon we went to Scarborough...
Another seaside town much the same as the others except bigger.
We went to play in the arcades as the weather was a bit grim.
I now know im old... I used to love the arcades. Now they were giving me a headache and seemed all the same! But the kids were happy.
We visited the lifeboats place ( we collect the fridge magnets- I know!) and then came home for tea.
At night we'd promised the kids a night in the dreaded campsite club! Well they loved it!
Unfortunately the night got better the more I drank.... So this morning....
That combined with the fact that the biggun went to bed and an hour half later woke up and threw up!
Most of it went in the bucket.... Most of it .....!!
So today is a slow start. Off to York with bad heads and sore bellies!

Now I do doubt this a little but I google mapped it so...
Todays run was 1:22.38 for close on 12 miles!
Yes apparently I was at race pace!?
Go figure?!
Felt good, bit dodgy on the country roads, need a fluro t shirt when I get back. Again nice bit of long drawn out hill work and relieving down hill run in was much appreciated.

S and C went home today which meant that we were all up on time.we needed some food so a quick trip into nearby Filey.
I also managed to get a small dressed crab for under £3 - bit of a bargain really.
We had pasties on the beach front and then came back.
The boss and me had a little bit of time for a saunter at the site whilst the kids were playing, that was good.
Then tonigt we decided to go down to the beach via a different path.quick check on google earth and path was found. The dusk light was/ and is as I type, beautiful.
The boss was obviously in poignant mood watching the sea lap as the kids played...
Good shot though...
Thought of the post?
As the sun set, what were you doing?

So yesterday we had a ride out to Bridlington.as it turned out kinda an upmarket ( just) version of Scarborough...
Nice long beach.
Nowt wrong with Scarborough just lots of arcades and slot machines. Mind you the SM was perfectly happy with his tub of 2p's! He was delighted that he won 2 lollies amongst the small fortune of copper that came and went!
Determined as I was not to eat fish n chips AGAIN we found an Italian restaurant bar place.was nice and I managed to get a huge bowl of spicy tomato spaghetti which is always good!
But it did start the downward slope for eating that day!
Boy did I eat!
We found ourselves back at the same place later on for coffee and cakes.
Now I always feel left out in the nice coffee stakes. I like black coffee. Never ever drunk it with milk. So cappuchinos an the like are out for me. This place had wonderful looking and sounding coffees but all with milk! So I had a double espresso...then an enormous choc waffle cone with rum n raisin and apple crumble ice cream! (which wasn't as nice as first sounded!)
After Bridlington we went to see the lighthouse at Flamborough Head. Magnificent building in a stunning cliff top location
There's something majestic about lighthouses that I think churches also share. I think its probably the idea that I've never seen one built in my lifetime to the same scale or grandeur...
We managed to spy a few seals bobbing around as well.
We came home to cheese toasties and beer!
...and more food!
My entry themed question for you all today is this... What sort of coffee order do you enjoy? ( I also have a secret fascination with the way that my American friends seem to be able to order coffee! Or have I been watching too many films again!?)

So three laps of the dog field in force 52 from navarone! For about 44 minutes and around 4.5 miles.
Real taking it easy in the wind!
Oh, and todays run sponsored by mr johnny cash!
Love it!

Set the alarm as we all managed to sleep last night.
Weather was a bit cloudy but dry and I set off intending an out n back 30 minutes ( hour of running)
These are quite challenging at the best of times I find. More specially when you have no idea of where you are!
The first 3miles were all up hill but very scenic. After that I was happily into it.
Mp3 battery died but no great loss. Had luxury of water with me but not too bothered.
The age old theory of what goes up... Well, the run back to the site was a breeze.mostly down hill-I felt great.
Again,no real idea of how far it was-I'd say 7 ish miles?
Not relevent though.just a good day to be a runner!

So together with s and c ( & after a truly terrible night with the SM and some serious nightmares...) and after a resting day from the running...
We all set off for Robin Hoods Bay...
Not mad keen on the place as it's all hill an nowt else.although we did find a great pub for an impromptu pint... So mebbe not all bad!?
CHEERS!!
After RHB we set off for some fish n chips in Whitby.
We had a holiday in Whitby when the SM was 6 wks old and personally I think it's a great place so it was nice to go back.
Fish n chips were great and we then went back to the restaurant we used to go to for coffee and carrot cake- lovely!
I also found the seafood kiosk and discovered that I also now like whelks!
On the way home from whitby we found a party prison pub place for more guiness- bonus!
So after showering the SM it's now coffee more cake and then a better bed time so that I can run the dog field tomorrow
So how has your alcohol intake been today?!
Posted via LiveJournal.app.
Well our friends s and c arrived today.s has a brand new tent although she is far from being a camper!
So she arrived first and me and the boss put the tent up for her. We're no experts but have done a sight more camping than them.well we threw the cheapness up quite quickly really.it's not pretty, but it's up...
We are currently sat inside it as the rain has come big time! So at least it's getting tested before bedtime!
Mind you...the view from the door is wonderful.check it out...
The rest of the day has been taken with cleaning! The boss cleaned the inside of the van and I, brush in hand, cleaned the outside! Well it was knackerising but it all looked great afterwards.
Tonight we're eating spaghetti bolog and perhaps the ocassional beer..or 3..!!!
What's on in your world?

Did the descent of 'everest' this morning to discover the tide was going out-slowly!
Today was the day for my inaugural beach run. Theoretically I could run along the beach to Filey...had the tide and my dubious divinity not had other ideas!
So I set up a route out n back of what I could run. Good for just over a mile I reckoned.
I soon warmed up and the jacket came off and was placed under a rock (more later) and off I ran for 45 minutes.
Sun shining, wind blowing, water with me, music on -all good.
After 45 was up I walked the beach to cool down and realised the wiseness of placing a grey jacket under a grey rock on a pebbled alcove was mebbe not the best!
However, jacket found, north face ascended (whilst talking to this old bloke and dog who stays here in a static for NINE MONTHS of the year!!!) shower later n here i am awaiting cooked breakfast.
Weather looking ominous though...

After arising earlyish and enjoying a little run we decided to investigate the beach path and the beach.
Well the path was akin to everests north face-boy was it steep! The beach is sandy and flat, nice.
So after exploration we headed back to the caravan for lunch and thought we'd spend a little time on the beach in the afternoon.so resplendent with beach shelter towels and drinks we set up secluded camp.the sun was shining and the breeze was, well, breezing.
Then the spots of rain started.so we didn't like the look of of the clouds so we gently packed up camp.
We were 2/3 of the way back up the north face ascent when thunder rumbled.
OMG were we caught!drowned would be a better analogy!
Showers all round, dried and warm again and the bleedin sun has come out!
So here I sit outside the awning amidst the drying clothes and towels, beer in hand.
Later we may head for the ' entertainment ' in the site club...oh dear!!
Stay well all!

(sorry folks!selfish runnin journal post!info/goings on post later)
2 laps around the dog field an a bit of farm track for good measure.mainly grass/field but still cracked out the trail shoes..
35:30 running no idea how far Generous 4 miles?

I'M BACK!
(Anybody still here with me?!)
So we are away on the north east coast of the uk in the carAvan.Filey to be exact.
Journney here was good and steady.camp site is really a holiday site-huge with tons going on.
It's also the windiest place on the planet.took 5 of us to stop the awning blowing away, seriously!
After set up we've been into filey this afternoon for seaside fish an chips coffee n doughnuts! Great seaside fare n gotta be done!
Presently sat out with coat on but sun (and wind!) on face and beer o'clock is imminent.
Off to explore the coast path tomorrow morning.
Running never gets a holiday!!!

4 days and counting till the end of 'silly season!' I promise normal service to be resumed after..love you all, hope you're well.
Posted via LiveJournal.app.
So we have got away for a few days with the kids and the caravan.we are in deepest hilliest Derbyshire.
Journey here wasn't too bad, nor too long which suits me fine!
Site warden was friendly n helpful and we were set up quickly.
Currently one beer deep, sat quiet in sun.kids are away playing. I already have tomorrow trail run planned out for around 8 am I reckon.no idea how far it is. all I know is there's a hill that needs run up!
Gonna pop Into ashbourne in a bit for some BBQ stuff .
Drinking beer far too long and early, blokes cooking bad bbqs, an going to bed surprisingly early-all great camping and caravaning traits!
Will let you know how the run goes...
